Welcome, Everyone!

Through Eating with the GOAT, I am hoping to inspire you to find your rhythm and soul in the kitchen by opening up your favourite cookbooks—old or new—and creating spontaneous meals. I hope this journey sparks your creativity and helps maintain your well-being, all while having a little fun along the way.

Who is Eating with the GOAT?
I’m Sarah Jane—new to the blogging world but definitely not new to cooking. But, I have lost my kitchen mojo and dammit…I want it back! I’m here to find the motivation and excitement again and, in the process, create exciting, mindful experiences for anyone who wants to follow along—or better yet, try them out for themselves.

In my early twenties, I spent a lot of time in the kitchen. Growing up on a farm in New South Wales, Australia, I made the most of the family kitchen. After leaving home, I discovered that the kitchen became a true happy place for me. I loved the fulfilment that came with cooking for family and friends—always with an eye for food styling and a beautifully set table. (Because let’s face it, who doesn’t like a truly joyous, amplified table setting?)

After six years working in the hospitality industry, I felt the urge to teach others these important life skills. So, I went to university, completed my vocational training, and began a career that’s now almost 20 years strong—and still going! While I love sharing my passion with students, it’s slowly draining me of my kitchen mojo at home. Add in the beautiful, busy life of being a mother to two amazing little ladies chasing their dreams to be soccer stars, a couple of attempts at sideliner businesses, and the spark I once had in the kitchen has definitely begun to fade.

Now, in my forties, I miss that feeling of pure satisfaction and joy that cooking used to bring me—whether it was preparing a simple lunch for myself or hosting a dinner party for friends. It didn’t matter; I was always happy in the kitchen. I’m on a mission to reclaim that energy, to find joy once again, and to make cooking feel like a pleasure, not a chore.

By sharing my journey, I hope to inspire you to rediscover your own kitchen mojo. It’s such a special feeling, and one that’s great for the soul. I’d love for you to join me!
